Renewing the mind is a lifestyle, not an experience. You can change to make your life the way you want it to be. We have a renewed mind in certain areas, but struggle in other areas.
Some people do well managing money, but struggle in relationships. Some are very successful in many areas, but very controlling in other areas. A renewed mind forgives offences, while the un-renewed mind rationalizes offences and unforgiveness. A renewed mind is a team player, while an un-renewed mind is independent and rebellious.
The bible talks about taking off the old sinful nature and putting on the new nature.
Ephesians 4:22-24 (NLT) Throw off your old sinful nature and your former way of life, which is corrupted by lust and deception. Instead, let the Holy Spirit renew your thoughts and attitudes. Put on your new nature, created to be like God truly righteous and holy.
Renewing the mind involves removing old habits and establishing new ones. Forming Godly habits is essential to renewing the mind.
You have to break bad habits and replace them with good habits.
Your thoughts create your words, your words create your actions, your actions create your habits and your habits create your character.
What comes out of you is determined by what is already in you.
Matthew 12:35 (KJV) A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good things, and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings forth evil things.
Your life is a manifestation of what is in you. Your marriage, children, finances, business or job, your attitude towards other people.
Your thoughts translate into your outward behavior and lifestyle.
Matthew 15: 17-20 (NKJV) Do you not yet understand that whatever enters the mouth goes into the stomach and is eliminated? But those things which proceed out of the mouth come from the heart, and they defile a man. For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies. These are the things which defile a man.
Only you have control over your thoughts. People cannot control or influence you without your permission. Don't blame your behavior or misfortune on other people.
Maturity is when we take responsibility of our own decisions and failures.
Whatever your present situation or circumstance is in life, you have the potential to move forward and experience more of God's will and plan for your life.
I challenge you to invest the time and energy necessary to follow the principles needed to renew your mind, to change and grow and move into God's ordained purpose and destiny.
